Checklist after the event
This is Number 1 because it is easily the most important step to take after any business networking meeting. Just a quick line to say how good it was to meet someone adding some personal notes about the conversation you had really makes them feel special – we all want to know that we are listened to and taken notice of.
Do What You Said You Would Do!!!
Again, a very important point after any business meeting – if you’ve promised to send some info, then do it. If you’ve promised to meet for a coffee to chat more, then contact with alternative dates. If you’ve promised to introduce someone to another business, then do it. This may seem like common sense to most people, but there are still those who don’t do what they say they will do. If you can’t trust them to do something as simple as sending info to you, how do you know you can trust them to carry out the work you want?
Add people to LinkedIn
Social Media is regarded as a powerful business tool, when you’ve already met someone then why not add them to LinkedIn. This way you will be able to engage with them online about lots of different business subjects and re-enforce that budding business relationship.
